Sie gelten ganz besonders dann, wenn Du einen /8 kaufen willst, den Du nicht ansehen kannst, durch den Du nicht durchkriechen kannst und der bei eBay angeboten wird. Bei eBay in England, genauer gesagt, und da ausgerechnet in Devon, ganz unten links. Dort wo man Autos noch fährt bis sie auseinanderfallen.

Nun, eBay ist Schuld. Ich konnte nicht anders. Ein super-super-seltener englischer /8-Kombiumbau von Crayford in blau mit rotem Leder. Die Beschreibung bei eBay war erfrischend ehrlich und ließ nichts Gutes hoffen, aber das war alles egal:

This is a very rare Crayford Estate conversion on a 220D W115 saloon chassis. So far I have only heard of one other in existence (in this country) as Crayfords did not keep records of these conversions and no others are known of by the Mercedes Benz Owners Association. It is a 1973 registration as it was new in '72 and then sent to Crayfords. I have a fax from the archive in Stuttgart and a letter from the Merc dealers in Southampton to prove the age so when it goes back on the road it is eligible for Historic Vehicle status.

It is an unfinished project which the wife lumbered me with several years ago and I will never get round to finishing it. I have done some welding and have new rear lower panels for it, there is also a pile of other bits mainly trim parts and an extra set of wheels and tyres. It has the optional leather interior but the front seats need recovering. The engine/box running gear is all ok but the battery is shot but it will run.

Please Note it does need full restoration but should be worth a few quid done up for the rarity value alone.

Er strahlte, obgleich man über die Linienführung des Aufbaus durchaus geteilter Meinung sein darf, noch durchs Internet den Geschmack und den Stil aus, den nur ein /8 hat. Gekauft. Don't do as I do, do as I say.
