Crayview

Gestern kam das "Crayview Magazine", die vierteljährliche Clubzeitschrift des Crayford Convertible Car Clubs. Darin ein Bild und meinen ersten Brief an den Club mit der Bitte um weitere Kontakte.



Es ist noch kein weiterer Crayford-/8 in Sicht. Schade.

Gordon betreibt das zweite Crayford-Register in Australien. Ich hatte ihm vor ein paar Tagen eine eMail geschrieben. Heute schreibt er zurück:

Delighted to receive your e-mail! You have solved one Crayford mystery for me: where did this car end up (Bild von John Green in London 1999). Now I know - yee haa! I shall add it to my registry - in fact the first /8 to make it there. Congratulations. It may be a couple of days before I get to it, as I'm very busy with work right now, but nothing can keep me from my Benz obsession for long.

Gordon besitzt selber einen W116 Crayford-Umbau, aber hat auch ein Herz für den /8 auf seiner Internet-Seite "CRAYFORD-BENZ WORLD". Auch dort haben wir den Crayford Kombi /8 eingetragen.

Heute kam noch eine eMail, wieder auf meine kleine Notiz in der "Classic & Sports Car", und wieder aus Australien:

Hi, I just read about your car in Classic & Sports Car magazine, (I am in Australia, so I get it a few weeks late) and thought you might like to know there are two websites with registers for Crayford conversions on M-Bs. As there is some interest here, as well as in Europe in these cars it would be useful if you could send details to both. We do not have much info on the W114/115 conversions. Keep in touch and let us know how you get on with the restoration, photos of the car, and of progress would be appreciated

Eine der beiden Register von John Green kenne ich nun schon, aber das andere ist neu. Also gleich eine eMail an Gordon geschrieben.

Maybe I can contribute a little to your Crayford registry. About a year ago I bought a 1972 W115 220D Crayford Convertible in the south of Britain and trailered it to my workshop in Germany. My intention is to restore the car, but its condition is very bad and this will be a herculean task.
